UK Adventure – Dingle Coast, Western Ireland – International Photography

One thing we expected upon arriving to Ireland was greenery. In the city you don’t get to experience that as much. I think that television had built it up to this magical place where the scenery was so amazing your eyes couldn’t handle it – or maybe that’s just how I interpreted it. Don’t get me wrong, it was beautiful once we got out of the city and explored and actually reminded me of Washington State.  The whole trip around the coast was fun to experience. Outside of Dublin is pretty much very rural. Being from small town Idaho, that was a fun thing to go back to. And to be honest, the Irish countryside was on of the highlights of the trip for me because it was nice to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city.

.

Such a great view to look at on a road trip – totally beats the desert views we have when driving from Idaho to Eastern Oregon or Utah :)  If you’re from a metropolitan place that doesn’t have much for outdoors it would be a whole different story.

.

On this trip I we went to a small town called Dingle, which was recommended to me by a client. I’m so happy they recommended it because it was one of my favorite places on the trip. The food was amazing (because let’s be honest, English/Scottish/Irish food is little to be desired) and we were able to eat fresh seafood from a fully functional port.

.

At one point on our trip we experienced wind gusts up to 60mph and rain. Apparently this is the norm in Ireland no matter the time of year. I will NEVER complain about Idaho weather again! One minute it was blowing and pouring, the next minute the sun would peek out, and in another minute it was blowing and pouring again.

Here are some of my favorite shots from Western Ireland:

UK Adventure – Dublin, Ireland – International Photography

Dublin has always been a place on our list so it was fun to finally arrive. However, it was just like any other large European city, but with worse weather :) . It was fun to explore and think about some of the hardships that Ireland has experienced. The Great Potato Famine was a huge piece of history for them so it was crazy to think about what the people of Ireland experienced during that time. We were also able to visit Dublin’s main prisons (pronounced gaol there) which gave us a little more perspective.

UK Adventure – Edinburgh, Scotland – International Photography

After London, we took a train up to Edinburgh, Scotland. It was a beautiful 4 hour trip. We were able to see a lot of the English/Scottish countryside. To be honest, it doesn’t look much different than Idaho, so that was fun to compare. Another notable thing is Scotland is something like the second windiest place in Europe – we had our fair share of wind gusts!

UK Adventure – London – International Photography

I had always wanted to visit the UK but the flights have always been a restricting factor because it is so dang expensive to fly over. In October of 2012 I had been searching around for our next big adventure. We like to travel in April because it is usually the most cost-efficient time to go. I played around and discovered that our airline miles that we had been saving up would be enough to cover almost all flights to and from the UK.

.

So then the planning began! We originally wanted to just do London and play around in Ireland but it turned into London, Edinburgh (Scotland), and then play around in Ireland. Though the weather wasn’t the most cooperative (as apparently the UK tends to be), we really enjoyed ourselves.

.

As for London, we didn’t have anything on the agenda except to wander around town and soak it in. The only thing I really wanted to do was check out the Globe Theatre because I’ve been obsessed with it since high school.

.

Here are a few of our favorite shots from London. I’ll post with the other destinations in separate posts so that there aren’t too many photos in one post. I also instagrammed random shots from the city.

No Monkeying Around | International Photographer

FYI this is a super random post.

.

About a year ago, my husband and I decided to venture to central America for our annual vacation. The last few years we have played around Europe but last year decided we wanted a taste of tropical life in Belize. This was our first tropical vacation and now. I. get. it. We came back SO relaxed. In most cases after a European vacation, we need a vacation from our vacation because we are exhausted. This one we came back tan and refreshed.

.

Anyway, I was reading a book that happened to be talking about monkeys and I remembered I had done some video clips from when we were in Belize, including ones of howler monkeys. We had ventured over to San Ignacio to see the Mayan Ruins and happened to come across a tree with LOTS. We were SO close and it was amazing. Here is a quick little video of those guys. Oh, and these guys aren’t howling but we definitely had our fair share of hearing some.

Belize! Idaho Photographer

I’m back! I know I didn’t really tell you that I was leaving but that was on purpose :)

.

Happy to report that I have a tan, quite a few mosquito bites, and refreshed. We decided to take a little vacation to Belize for my husband’s 30th birthday. It was so amazing.

.

We stayed for 6 nights and had the opportunity to hang on the beach, bike into a tiny little village several times, zipline, hike up to a waterfall in the jungle, come across growling monkeys that were actually super nice, and check out several Mayan Ruin sites along the Guatemalan border.

.

Here are a few of my favorite photos from the trip.
