I realize that Memorial Day was Monday, but I still wanted to share this photo. There was a flag display at a local park and we happened to come across this. This photo happened organically and I couldn’t be more happy with the moment.

I had a blast photographing this family. This little 3-year-old had 5x the energy I had and I am a little jealous! He definitely kept me on my toes. All the while his little brother slept so peaceful and made my job way too easy.

I did a couple re-edits on two of my favorite photos from our trip to Belize. I love the vibrance!

Happy Monday

When I first met Kassie for her wedding consultation, I immediately knew we would be a good fit. We clicked right away and talked for quite a while. Her fiance sounded fun and I couldn’t wait to work with them.
.
Kassie and Joe were so much fun! We had planned to get some fun outdoors shots and then hit up Bown Crossing for some beer and football shots (which were my favorite).
.
Here are a few of my favorite shots.

For the first time ever, I was able to witness a solar eclipse. Though from Boise it was considered more of a “ring of fire” (kind of) I’m still happy to have witnessed it. In Boise we didn’t quite get the full ring of fire effect but it was still pretty neat.

I wouldn’t be able to call myself a photographer if I didn’t try to photograph it. You’re supposed to try to do it with special equipment but I didn’t have that so I did my best. As you can imagine, it takes some strange exposures to really catch what is going on. The photos I’m going to share look like they were taken after dark. Actually in order to capture the bright sun I had to crank my shutter speed really fast and close my aperture to 32.
.
They aren’t the best pictures but it is as close to looking directly at it as you can get.
I love this time of year because it is engagement session season! A couple of my wedding packages come with engagement sessions so it’s a fun time to get to know my clients before their wedding approaches. It’s also a great time for my clients to get used to my shooting style before the big day. Katie and Jerame were my first couple of the season. These guys are so cute and fresh. I was excited to find out that they were also high school sweethearts! So fun.
Anyway, here are a few of my favorites. We shot around 10am around Camelsback Park.

Sometimes there are behind the scenes things I would love to share but never get to because it’s a moment that can’t really be captured. I got an opportunity to catch it this time.
.
It’s not uncommon for me to end a session with a little one holding my hand out of the park. I gain little buddies! The other night after a session I was walking on the sidewalk myself when I had some company. I realized it was one of the moments I always want to capture. The shadow gave me a perfect opportunity. My 3-year-old buddy, with his hands on his hips, was walking with me out of Katherine Alberston’s park.
Congratulations to Scott Ryals for winning the Cell Phone Photo Contest with the photo below! I’ll be in touch with details about your session.

Okay so he’s not really a super senior but he’s super and he’s a senior. I had soooo much fun photographing Brandon. He is energetic and was willing to do anything I asked him to do. He plays for the Vallivue marching band so I made him play a little while I photographed him.
.
Brandon is a Vallivue Senior and the future has SO much in store for him. I can’t wait to see what he accomplishes.
