First Look – A Bride’s Story – Boise Wedding Photographer

What is a first look? It’s an experience brides and grooms are opting for instead of waiting to see each other before the wedding. A private meeting is arranged and the bride and groom will get to see each other before for the first time.

Okay, first look…. I’m super happy we did this and so is Mike. It settled both of our nerves quite a bit, so that by the time the wedding rolled around, we were relaxed and excited to be getting married. It was super special for both of us because it was the only time during the whole day that we weren’t being bombarded by someone, needing “just a couple minutes of our time.” It gave us just five minutes to tell one another how much we loved the other and to truly relish the fact that we were about to be man and wife. And the rest of the pictures being taken right after that was great. No one had to wait around for all of that to be done during the start of the reception. I will recommend to every couple from now until forever that they have that moment together and that they do the rest of the photographs before the ceremony as well. – Katrina Sheppard

Full of Color – Boise Wedding & Engagement Photographer

Okay, okay. I’ve been absolutely terrible about blogging more than one image at a time. I have a new system and should be able to show you lots more photos per post :) .

.

I had to share this engagement session with you. We had amazing light and an amazing couple. They made my job so easy because they are totally and completely in love. Also, don’t you just love Marcy’s hair?? I actually had dreams about me having this hairdo after this session because I loved it so much. Also, so fun because they’re doing a “science” theme for their wedding. Can’t wait!

Unscripted – Boise Wedding Photographer

I generally love to do a really up-close shot of the bride and groom during their formal photos. Although it’s a shot I always do, it never looks the same. Every couple is so different and I never get the exact result. This shot is no different. Sometimes I will put the couple in front of the camera and not give any direction at all to see how it plays out. This is how you create real moments. This isn’t always the best way for everyone, but for most of MY clients it is :) . I LOVE how it played out.

Thriller – Boise Wedding Photographer

To give you some quick background, I LOVE Michael Jackson’s music. AND I’ve always wanted to learn the dance to Thriller. At Saturday’s wedding I saw some commotion as this song started and I immediately knew there was going to be some sort of dance going on. I popped the camera over to video and ended up capturing this. The dj was a friend of the wedding party and also owns Heirloom Dance Studio in Boise. He didn’t disappoint.

.

Also turns out he teaches this dance to the general public around Halloween which I WILL be attending this year.

Intimate Wedding – Boise Wedding Photographer

While in California last weekend I also had the opportunity to photograph a wedding. I really enjoyed myself. It was a very intimate (50 guest) wedding. It gave me an opportunity to really get to know the couple. Not to mention the weather was amazing.

Avila Beach – Boise Photographer

This last weekend I was in San Luis Obispo California to visit a friend and photograph a wedding. It’s always so refreshing to head over to the west coast and I think I need to do it more often! I’m still catching up so this will be short-winded but here are two of my favorite scenic shots. The first one was at sunset. We were walking back to our bikes when I saw how amazing the sun was hitting the boats. The second is a shot I took under the pier. I’d always wanted to get a shot like this so I’m excited to have gotten it!
