Spring Engagement – Boise Wedding Photographer

So these guys have already been married for over a month but I was going back and looking at some of the sessions I hadn’t really blogged and thought I’d catch up. We took these photos in the spring when the weather was not very good, we totally lucked out and had a perfect day. All other days of the week were stormy and cold, but this day was awesome! Here are some of my favorites.

If I Were You… – Boise Photographer

The other day I was talking with a few other local photographers about how digital cameras are cheap and now everyone is a photographer, so why pay more when your neighbor just bought a sweet DSLR and could totally do it cheaper?

.

The day before I had another photographer friend tell me about a conversation she had with a client whose wedding photos were taken by a “neighbor with a sweet camera” for much less. She also said that the photos weren’t what she was hoping they would be and is now doing a mock shoot to hopefully recover some of the moments that were lost on the wedding day.

.

Now I’m not trying to be a Debbie Downer on this Monday morning, but just wanted to share that it DOES HAPPEN. When it does, most of the time those memories can’t be recovered. You might remember this post about wedding photos ruined, but during our discussion we were having someone posted THIS article about the difference between a cheap haircut vs paying a little bit more. It’s a great story.

Last Photography Class of the Year – September 18th – Boise Photographer

Due to popular demand I will be offering ONE more photography basics class before the end of the year. Since I like to do them outdoors, late September is really our last chance.

.

September 18, 2011 from 10am-12pm.

—————

Class will be 2 hours, at Capitol Park across the street from the Capitol Building. It is a very non-formal, picnic style class.

.

I’ve aimed it toward those who want to learn how to use their DSLR cameras, but it’s not restricted to that. In each class we can tweak the material depending on what everyone wants. Here’s a basic description of the course:

.

This course is for those who want to step out of the box and really learn how to use their expensive cameras. The first hour  will be basic photography terms, camera functions, and how to use your camera in manual.

.

The second hour will focus on composition and a little bit of technique. The class can take a different direction depending on the level of skill the participants are. Participants will receive a packet with all information learned in class.

.

These classes are for beginners and those who have never taken their camera out of manual. This is not a class for budding professionals who are wanting to learn how to run a business. I’m aiming toward those who have a fancy shmancy camera but have no idea how to use it.

.

Price $50 each. You will sign up directly through Paypal. Once your information is received I will send you a form to fill out to give me additional information about what you would like to get out of the class.

.

I also accept credit card via the phone if you prefer to sign up that way. (208) 695-7182

Sleepy Head – Boise Newborn Photographer

Generally I like to photograph newborns around 2 weeks old. However, if the baby is pretty small I will wait until they’ve hit near 8lbs. In my experience, 8lb babies sleep better during a shoot than 6lb babies. This little lady didn’t weigh 8lbs until near 4 weeks old. 4 weeks is the nerve-racking age because you never know if they’re going to sleep or be awake if you pull and pose them. Not only that, but this lady was sooo tall. I this she beats the heights of any newborn I’ve ever photographed. I think mom and dad said she was born at 22-23 inches in length.

.

Needless to say, we didn’t have ANY issues getting her to sleep during her session.
