Back to the Future – Boise Photographer

I came across this article yesterday and thought it was super awesome. Basically a photographer asked people if they wanted to re-create photos from their past. I don’t know if there was lots of photoshop done to re-create the backgrounds but it really is amazing.

You can find the article HERE.

November Days – Boise Family Photographer

I felt like November 2010 had the most beautiful weather we could have asked for. Overcast skies and perfect temperatures. Fall felt like it was never going to end – and I really didn’t want it to.

I photographed this family during the week and we had a total blast. Not to mention the sweet little newborn who decided she wanted to sleep through most of the session :)

Such a good big brother!

A Taste of Spring – Boise Photographer

Every year about this time my husband and I take a trip to Vegas for the weekend. The last couple years have turned into a group trip. After a long day in the airport we got home last night and relaxed.

We had a total blast, but I’d have to say the best part about the whole trip was the 70 degree weather. Oh how I’d love to live somewhere with that kind of weather in Februrary.

Though I never bring my camera to Vegas (too much of a hassle with as many times as we’ve been there), I did manage to grab a couple shots from my cell phone. This one was while we were hanging out in a grassy area waiting for breakfast without jackets on. It was definitely nice getting a little taste of spring.

Boudoir Behind the Scenes – Boise Photographer

I had promised I would post a few behind the scene photos to show how I set up the boudoir mini-sessions. I didn’t put much effort into shooting the room but at least you get the idea. I also have examples from the room as well.

I loved the way that the room was set up because it gave me so many options for places to shoot. The spot I was shooting from was a whole other “living room” space so you can get an idea of how big the room was. The window was my main source of light. I also hung up a gold piece of fabric to get some great change of scenery. The last picture in the next series is with the gold fabric hanging from the window.

Examples from the window light:

And the one with the gold fabric on the window…

Now we move to the bathroom…

No you are not mistaken, I did say bathroom. Sounds creepy considering it is in a hotel room but it had the cutest blue wall. So I would have my clients stand (or sit on a stool) in front of the blue wall and I would shoot from the bathtub.

The shots in the bathroom are some of my favorites.

Now back to the “living room” area I was talking about.

This room is even bigger than the pictures can show. Behind me there was a desk, sink, and fridge in its own little area. Pretty sweet hotel.

Anyway, here is my basic light set up for this room. I have a strobe to the left, but I changed it to a continuous light. The one bouncing from the ceiling is actually a blue light. The blue gives more of a natural light feel so I like to use that one to bounce. Up on the couch is a off-camera flash. Since it’s the smaller flash I have to connect it via cord. The cord is so super long that I could probably connect it to my camera all the way over by the window. Here are some of the results!

Of course I have SO many more photos and combinations than I showed but it would be the longest post on the face of the planet if I showed everything. If you want to see more, I posted some up on my website gallery. http://tk-foto.com. There are some of the same and some extras.

That’s about it! I had so much fun doing these mini-sessions and I will definitely be doing them next year.

Blue Skies, Cold Breeze – Boise Photographer

I have a fascination with trees and clouds. I especially love clouds after it has rained and in the early spring. Today is one of those days. The sun is bouncing off the clouds in such a perfect way that it almost looks surreal.

I ran outside to try to grab a picture and didn’t do it any justice. Not to mention there is a slight lens flair on one of the clouds. Oh well, you get the idea. :)

PS. It looks really warm when you look out the window but there’s still a little bite when the wind comes across.

From a Fighter to a Survivor – Boise Photographer

In the last couple years I have posted about a friend of mine who was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 23.

You right remember here, here, here, here or here.

I’m happy to report that she is doing soooo awesome. Instead of me telling you everything, head over to her blog and read through her entries. She documented through her double mastectomy, chemo treatments, and post-chemo recovery. It will truly inspire you to cherish those around you because you never know when something like this can sneak in.

The other day I asked her if I could post a quick update and a head-shot of her on my blog. Okay I basically said she had to do it because so many of you have been asking how she’s doing :)

Isn’t she just glowing?

Easily Distracted and Love Statue – Boise Photographer

I’m easily distracted today and can’t bring myself to putting a full photo blog post together. So in the meantime, I’ll show you a photo from my trip to NYC in October. I still have a bunch of these photos to blog.

I’ve always seen this particular shot in magazines and movies. I didn’t actually realize it was in NYC until we walked right by it. I’m super excited I was able to grab this shot.

Love Statue – NYC 6th @ 55th St. Midtown

I was trying to think of movies I’ve seen it in, but can’t at the moment (remember, easily distracted today). Can you think of any?
