Facelift – Boise Photographer

I’ve been making some great changes to all my sites. I’ve remodeled my website and am working on the proofing gallery. I’m hoping by next week I will have it all finished.

Take a look at my website and tell me what you think or if there are any changes you think I need to make.

Airport Madness – Boise Photographer

Yesterday was the longest day in the airport – ever. My trip to Europe ain’t got nothing on this one.

Our flight was scheduled to leave Orange County around 8ish in the morning, so we got there an hour and a half early and made it through security without any problems. We decided to carry-on all of our bags since it was a short trip and our luggage load was small.

15 minutes after we were supposed to board we got an announcement that our plane hadn’t even left LAX yet. Sad. That meant we had to wait 45 minutes before we could board meaning we would miss our connecting flight to SFO. Bummer.

Next flight out of SFO to Boise wasn’t until 8pm and that wasn’t going to work. The travel reception lady said that she could fly us into Denver and we could get out of Boise no later than 6pm, but there was a small chance we could catch a flight earlier because they had one going out at 3 something.

Great! We booked it and didn’t fly out for another two hours.

Boarding started but we were in seating area 4 because of all the last minute changes. We started to board the plane and the lady let us know we had to check our bags because there wasn’t any room in the overhead bins. This wasn’t the ale-cart checking, it was the under the plane checking. Arg. Fine, whatever, checked the bags and got on the plane.

While in route to Denver the pilot came across the speaker letting us know that there were several micro-bursts in the Denver area and we were going to have to circle the runway until they cleared. Danget. There went our chance to fly to Boise early.

Also turned out that all the circling is causing me to experience some motion sickness. No good, very bad day.

We finally made it into Denver. The good news was that all flights were delayed so there was still a chance we could make it to Boise on the earlier flight.

We exited gate B 20 something and the Boise flight was leaving in Gate 95. Yes, NINETY FIVE. So we started running across the airport Home Alone style.

We made it as they were getting ready to shut down the gate. There was room on the flight. Yay. Before she booked us she asked if we had checked baggage.

“Yes, but we can just grab it when it shows up on the later flight.”

Turns out that TSA doesn’t let you do that. Your bags have to go with you at all times. Buzz kill. We walked back from the gate with our sad faces on and decided to get food and take it out on our bodies.

We found a New Belgium hub which made my husband gitty. He’s been wanting to visit the real restaurant forever. He loves this company. So much that he wears a hat with their logo on it as well as his road biking jersey is a gigantic advertisement for them.

In the end we made it home safe but wasted an entire day, but it was quite the experience.

Wowza – Boise Photographer

I just got done flying for a gazillion hours. You would have think we came back from an overseas trip. Nope. Guess where I came from? Southern California. It should not have taken that long.

I usually don’t rant and rave on the blog, but this one will need to be blogged soon.

Also, the conference was amazing and I got the opportunity to sit there and talk with photographers I’ve been following for years. It’s strange to do something like that. It was like meeting your favorite celebrity –  I was star struck. But more about that coming up.

Yay! It feels good to be home.

Children! Danielle & Jade – Boise Child Photographer

I’ve shared lots of little sneak peeks of this session and I’m finally done with it. Here are another few of my favorites from this session in the field of flowers (which is sadly gone now, it only lasts a couple weeks and we hit it perfect).

I love this one. She was walking with her mom and gave me just a little glance.

This one is going on a canvas in my office :)

Eeey Batter Batter – Boise Sports Photographer

This week I had the opportunity to take some photos of my sister playing softball. With my crazy schedule it has been hard for me to make it out to any of her games. This time my schedule worked perfect and I decided to bring my camera.

I have had some experience taking photos for Boise State Campus Recreation, so it was fun to get in and take sports photos again.

She’s the pitcher and I must add that I started teaching her to pitch when she was a wee one. I was never nearly as good as she is now, but I’d like to take a little bit of credit for it :)

And because I am the big sister, I find it in my birth right that I can make fun of the picture below. She looks so tough!!

And she was out!!

Some fun pitching shots.

For some reason this one ended up being one of my favorites. Love it.

Canvas – Boise Photographer

I’m a huge fan of canvas. If I could have every photo in my house made up of canvas, I would.

I’ve been doing some reorganizing in the office and have decided to start purchasing more canvas for my office. Here is one that I just recently received that I was really excited to share. This one is a 16×20.

I’ll share more as they start to come in as well as a final look once I’m done (which could be a while).

Biggest Struggle Working From Home

So my biggest struggle with working from home full-time is getting to the gym. I thought that it would be so easy but it’s not. When I worked in an office downtown, it was super easy to take a break and head down to the gym. Now, I’ll be home making excellent progress on a project and it makes it extremely difficult to leave. It is easy to jump outside and go for a run, but with the terrible weather we’ve been having it’s been nearly impossible.

So, I’ve decided to purchase the Zumba dvd set. I have lots of different at-home workout dvd’s but I always have to change it up. It was a little on the spendy side, but I’m canceling my gym membership so it’ll pay for itself in 2 months. If I can do this stuff from home and go for runs, there isn’t a big reason for me to keep my membership especially since I’ll have a free membership from the university.

What are some of your at-home workout tips?

June Special: Fall in Love – Boise Idaho Wedding Photographer

Don’t get me wrong, I love photographing children but lately I miss engagement sessions so I decided to do a special for June.

All of my wedding packages come with an engagement session, but not everyone uses the same photographer for both. Or, maybe you’re already married but want to capture that love again.

For the month of June I’m offering a special price of $175 for “engagement” sessions. These normally run $225.

Keep in mind that they don’t have to be an engagement session, they can be just because. :)

Contact me tamara at tk-foto dot com if you’re interested in scheduling.

Escalate – Boise Idaho Photographer

As soon as I decided to become a full-time photographer I knew I needed something to help me with workflow and building clientele.

I came across this post from Jessica Claire and I danced around with excitement. No really, I did.

Not only is it in a prime location (hub’s dad lives super close), but it was really affordable. Also, who doesn’t love visiting So Cal for a week?

I talked with the hubs and we planned our trip. I’m super excited to head out, as the weather in Boise has been less than pleasant (though the last couple days have been nice – go figure).

I’m really looking forward to a change of scenery. I’m a beach girl at heart and haven’t seen the beach since October when we were on our honeymoon. Cabin fever was setting in.

For those of you robbers who plan on visiting our house, you’re out of luck because we have a full-house. Maybe next time.

Ps. I’m not going to lie, I’m super excited about visiting Disneyland for the second time. Last time I didn’t get to see Toon Town. I was devastated (one of those life things to check off the list). Also, getting my photo with Mickey is another one.
