My Wedding – Preparation

Okay so some of you have been asking about wedding photos. Here they are. I’m going to have to break it up into a few different posts so I can show you the best stuff. Don’t worry, I won’t drag it out too long.

This post is all about the preparation photos. You’ll notice there’s not many of the guys but that’s because there are tons of awesome group photos of theirs.

The Casual Explanation: We were married on September 12th. Ceremony took place at the Idaho Preservation Office, also known as the Old Assay Building. The reception was at the Rose Room. Both buildings have some great history and that’s what we loved most about the place.

Us girls got our hair done at Four Gables Salon, and finished getting ready at the Grove Hotel. Boys got ready at home, but celebrated at Old Chicago.

Details:

I had originally purchased a different flower for my hair from Etsy. Unfortunately the photo made it look brown but it was actually black. I wanted mine to match my bridesmaid’s dresses so I ended up finding one at Claire’s in the mall.

All the bridesmaids sans the Maid of Honor. My hairdresser was also a bridesmaid.

This is about what the whole room looked like. Purses and lady stuff all over the place.

My dress was also my something old. It wasn’t necessarily that old, but I had bought it used off of E-Bay. It’s a Maggie Sottero.

I LOVE fake eyelashes but only wear them for special occasions. This is me winking with only one eyelash on.

This is my something borrowed. My grandpa’s war metal. I’ll show you in a later post how I incorporated it into my wedding.

My mom prepping me for the dress.

It was a group effort.

If you look really close… my something blue is that tiny little flower. When I got my nails painted, she asked if I wanted my something blue so I agreed. She drew on a tiny little blue flower onto my ring finger.

My custom made garter purchased from Etsy.

In the meantime….

I’ll have more photos of the boys on another post.

365 Days of Blogging – Boise Idaho Lifestyle Photographer

I’ve followed a lot of blogs who have done the 365 Days of Blogging Challenge. Basically the rule is that you have to blog every single day. That’s it. It doesn’t mean I have to physically write it every day, I can schedule them if needed as long as I have a post every single day.

I’m excited for this challenge and hope that I can do it. I’m starting on Jan 1st (yes I know, clique). It is NOT a resolution as I do not believe in those things!

Anyway, here’s a fun photo from our honeymoon. I love the vibrant colors of the Mediterranean Sea.

It was taken on the island of Malta below Italy. I put a map below for those who don’t know where it’s at. This was about the 6th day on our trip.

Missing Greece – Boise, Idaho Lifestyle Photographer

After visiting Greece during a time when Idaho was starting to get cold, I realized that I really love the coast. Here is a photo that my husband took (via iPhone) of me while in Greece. We were actually using their wireless internet to feed our internet addiction. It is currently my Facebook profile photo. I love it because it really captures Greece on a personal level.

Greece

I keep promising, but I have wedding and honeymoon pictures on their way. I’ve been swamped the family photos this month so those have been pushed aside.

Props – Boise Idaho Lifestyle Photographer

I feel like most photographers have a good eye for awesome props.

The moment I stepped into a my secret client’s house, I knew that I wanted to use this chair for her photos. She actually has two of them! They’re very vintage-looking and they’re original. None of this new and fake stuff. Here’s a photo I took while my client was changing her shoes. I think I’m going to print this and hang it in the living room. What do you think??

Now I’m in the market to find something this awesome.

Fleas. Gross.

This is a flea.

29-flea-1

We found these on our dogs. We have no idea how they got them, but it’s gross. We just noticed them itching on Sunday and didn’t think about checking them until Tuesday night. I’ve never had a dog with fleas so I had no idea.

So yesterday we flea bombed our house (twice), flea powdered the carpet, flea washed the dogs as well as flea dripped the dogs.

This crap better not come back.

Do you have any flea experiences? Tell me about them so I don’t feel so gross.

It's Official!

Okay I keep saying that but lots of things have been becoming official lately. This time I’ve officially changed my last name. Before, it was Tamara LeeAnne Kenyon.

To be quite honest, I had a very hard time imagining the thought of changing my last name. Some brides might find that strange, but I’ve become quite attached to my last name. I also consider myself an independent woman and have wondered why I need to change it at all.

I couldn’t change my last name until after the honeymoon because my passport and all of the flight information was under my maiden name. That made me very excited because it meant that I could keep my last name just THAT much longer.

I had also gone through many scenarios…. Tamara LeeAnne Kenyon-Messinger? Tamara Kenyon Messinger, Tamara LeeAnne Messinger? I couldn’t quite decide which would work. And for business sake I had already established a brand as being Tamara Kenyon Photography. Through all the figuring out and after two months I finally did it. The name is Tamara Kenyon Messinger.

I decided that since my middle name was on my birth certificate that it would always be my middle name. For legal documents I hardly used my middle name anyway. All my credit cards were just first and last name.

Anyway, it might not seem like that big of a deal for dudes, but they just don’t know. In the long run it’ll be nice for our children to have the same name as us, so I was happy to oblige.

So I’m done with the gibberish, here’s one of our wedding photos. Yes – that means I am in full possession of them. Whoop. You’ll be see those tomorrow. Yeah!

Sneak Peek! – Boise Idaho Lifestyle Photography

I decided not to put a name in the title of this blog because this is still kinda a secret. This wifey (also one of my best friends) is doing these photos for her husband’s birthday. She said I could sneak a couple up on my blog since there’s a very good chance he will never read this blog. Ever.

With that said, here are two photos I wanted to share. I sent her about 5 to peek at, but I’m only showing you guys 2. After her hubby’s birthday I will show more.

Updates Soon – I promise!

Okay so I know I said I’d show some more photos of the honeymoon (and still have yet to show you wedding photos), but they are coming soon. I will probably end up showing you the honeymoon photos first. We’ll be getting the disk with all the wedding photos very soon and I’m excited to show you all!
